Restaurants and Cafes

The Glenforsa Cafe & Farm Shop

The Glenforsa Cafe is our very own riverside farmhouse café and farm shop. Located just outside Salen, on the banks of the River Forsa, we serve fresh breakfast, lunch and weekend wood-fired pizzas. Designed to celebrate the Isle of Mull, the menus and small shop feature the abundance of the island and the talent of its producers. Open all season long, check our social media and website out for current opening times and menus and details of our calendar of events!

Coffee Pot, Salen

A Salen staple, the Coffee Pot serves up breakfast baguettes, soups, sandwiches and homemade cakes throughout the day – with a 24/7 cake honesty box for after-hours cravings.

Glass Barn, Tobermory

Tucked away at Sgriob-ruadh Farm, the Glass Barn is a wonderfully atmospheric café serving local produce including their own Isle of Mull Cheddar. Browse the farm shop or book a tour to see the cheese being made!

The Boathouse, Ulva

Accessible via a short foot passenger ferry, the Boathouse on Ulva serves fresh and local seafood with stunning views across to Ben More. Explore the island’s walking trails beforehand, or head straight in for a glass of wine and a long lunch. If the kids are with you, bring crabbing lines for the pier.

Croft 3, Torloisk

A restaurant on a working croft. Things are kept simple, but the food is always focused on flavour, and the views from the beautifully converted barn are spectacular. Seasonal menus are full of fresh island vegetables, meat, seafood, and natural wine. With its laid-back charm and epic chefs, this is a real foodie destination!

Cafe Fish, Tobermory

Perched on Tobermory Pier, this award-winning seafood haven serves daily catches of langoustines, mussels, scallops and lobster alongside a signature fish stew and house-baked bread. With an extensive Scottish drinks list and an inviting terrace, it is one of Mull’s finest tables. Open mid-March to late October.

Accommodation on the Estate

Local Produce & Artisan Food

For everyday essentials, the Spar in Salen is deceptively well stocked, and our own farm shop at the Glenforsa Café carries local bread, cheese, eggs, milk and artisanal island produce. For a more comprehensive guide to local produce, see below.

Isle of Mull Cheese at Sgriob-ruadh Farm,

Just outside Tobermory, this award-winning family farm produces celebrated cheddar from the raw milk of their own cows, with nothing going to waste: whey feeds the pigs and leftover milk fuels a small-batch spirits still. Pick up produce in the farm shop, book a cheese tour and stop in at the Glass Barn while you are there.

Tobermory Fish

Tobermory Fish Co. traditionally smokes salmon, trout and mackerel on-site in their small hilltop smokehouse. Pick up smoked fish, handmade pâtés and other produce from their Tobermory shop — perfect for picnic hampers, dinner or a gift with a true taste of Mull. Their cold smoked trout is our favourite!

Producers Market

Held weekly on Mondays through the summer months, the Tobermory Producers Market is a vibrant showcase of local talent and island produce. Browse stalls selling fresh vegetables, home baking, seafood, preserves and handmade crafts — a lovely way to meet local makers and take home a taste of Mull.

Tobermory Bakery

A much-loved main street staple, Tobermory Bakery serves freshly baked bread, pastries, pies and sweet treats daily. Famous for their doughnuts and filled rolls, it is the perfect stop before a walk, picnic or ferry crossing.

Tobermory Stores

A small but superbly stocked grocer in the heart of Tobermory, with a strong focus on local, organic and island-made produce. Perfect for picking up deli items, fresh produce and a good scotch egg.

Hebridean Lodge

A hidden gem just outside Tobermory, Hebridean Lodge offers beautifully prepared takeaway meals and deli items made from local ingredients. From seafood chowder to venison pies, it is well worth a stop.

Isle of Mull Ice Cream

Handmade in small batches from local milk and cream, Isle of Mull Ice Cream is a firm favourite with visitors and locals. Their pink shop in Tobermory serves classic and seasonal flavours, from Scottish tablet to wild raspberry. A must on any visit to town.

Explore Mull

Honesty Boxes

As you explore the island, keep an eye out for the honesty boxes scattered along the single-track roads. From hens’ eggs and mussels to homemade cakes, fresh pastries and even small pieces of art, they are one of Mull’s quiet charms. Just leave your coins and help yourself. Our favourites include:

Inverlussa Mussels

Freshly harvested mussels in a cool box at the Mussel farm on the southern shore of Mull. Cash only; a favourite with locals and chefs alike.

The Bread Box – Ballygown Farm, Ulva Ferry

Honesty box at Ballygown, not too far from Lip na Cloiche. The box offers fresh sourdough loaves, homemade croissants, bagels and more. Open seven days a week and all baked on the day. Ordering ahead welcomed.

Island Bakery

Located near the Island Bakery HQ above Tobermory, this honesty box offers their famous organic shortbread at a discount: slightly wonky, just as delicious.

Lip na Cloiche

This unique honesty stall beside a magical garden offers potted plants, eggs and Lucy’s beautiful handmade cards made with locally found materials. A creative treasure trove on the west coast of Mull.
