On the Estate

Pony trekking, tennis, mountain biking, getting gloriously lost on the island… there is far more to your island holiday on Benmore Estate than traditional country pursuits.

Mountain bikes are popular with adrenalin seekers and pony trekking at nearby Killiechronan is always a hit with adults and children alike.

If you’re feeling like a little fun competition, the tennis court in our beautiful walled garden at Knock House is the perfect setting for it, and certainly to give your party plenty to discuss over dinner that evening.

Benmore Estate is delighted with the new all weather 50m x 30m arena built at Knock in 2014.  The arena is available to hire and can be used for dressage, flat work and showjumping by individuals or clubs.  If you would like further information please contact us.

And Benmore Estate is a walker’s dream, whatever your level of ability and confidence.  Most popular is the climb up Ben More, Mull’s only Munro, but equally Dun da Ghaoithe (2,513ft), on Torosay offers an excellent ridge walk with magnificent views.  The track along Loch Ba offers a pleasant light walk.  If you’re feeling more adventurous, follow the old drove road through Glen Clachaig over the Mam to Glen More.  This path was used as recetly as the 1960’s by farmers from the north of the island to get their cattle shipped off Mull via Grasspoint.  Alternatively, walk over Glen Cannel and round the southern edge of the Black Hill to arrive at the foot of Ben Talaidh and the road which runs the length of Glen Forsa.

We tried most things: hill walking, boat trips, pony trekking, clays etc. Always with the very best of attention and friendly support from Donald and all the staff at Benmore Estate. A big success. Thanks.

Whether you choose the rhythm of horseback, bicycle or walking to explore the island, everyone has a favourite way to enjoy the wonderful wildlife and views of the Isle of Mull.
