Hydro Project

The potential for a run of the river hydro electricity generating scheme on the Gleann na Beinne Fada was identified in 2008 and during the following three years investigations and surveys were undertaken by specialist consultants resulting in the application for planning permission from Argyll and Bute Council and a CAR Licence from the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA).

Once constructed the 500kW scheme is expected to produce in excess of 1.8 megawatt hours of electricity every year €“ enough for over 350 houses.
